Mistake 1: Pressing Too Hard While Scoring

Many beginners mistake glass cutting for slicing. Pressing down too hard causes crunching sounds and creates glass splinters instead of a clean microscopic score line. Use firm, uniform pressure without forcing the wheel.

Mistake 2: Re-Scoring Over the Same Line

Never score over an existing score line! Re-scoring dulls your tungsten carbide wheel instantly and causes wild stress cracks across your glass sheet.

Mistake 3: Cutting Too Close to the Glass Edge

Keep your score line at least 1/8 inch away from the edge of the glass sheet to prevent blowout corners.

Mistake 4: Dull or Un-Oiled Cutter Wheels

If your score line looks white and flaky instead of thin and clear, your wheel is likely dry or worn out.
